Welcome to the Eco Otaku blog.
After a long life interest in the environment and an achievement of a tertiary qualification in Zoology, I decided that it was time that I created a blog to be able to express and discuss my opinions on the current environmental problems that the world is facing. Currently, as I write, the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit in deep talks discussing the fate of emissions as we enter a new era of the environment.
In creating this site, I hope to achieve nothing more than exchange of views on a number of different areas. As well as articles written about major environmental issues, I hope to compile some information that discusses green technology and culture.
As an Australian residing in Japan, I felt that the blog deserved an suitable name. Eco, taken from the world ecological, is a word often used in Japan to talk environmentally friendly items. Otaku translates to something like fanatic or crazy about something. It is often used to describe young Japanese who are crazy about manga comics. So the title eco otaku actually refers to an individual who is crazy about the environment and the outdoors.
